What are the biological factors in
Childhood Development?
Biological factors include
genetic influences, brain
chemistry, hormone
levels, nutrition, and
gender.
Gross motor development is
widely considered to be the
result of innate, biological
factors with postnatal factors
contributing a lesser extent.
Two specific biological factors that affect
childrens development are nutrition and
gender.
Nutrition-proper nutrition
becomes a vital factor in a
child’s overall development.
Gender – can influence
development in the variety of
ways
Interactions
Important to remember that
biological factors do not in
isolation. Genes for
example, can interact both
with genes as well as the
environment.
