Plate Tectonics

Theory
The Theory of Plate
Tectonics is a scientific
theory describing the
large-scale motion of
Earth's outermost hard
shell (lithosphere). An
important concept in
plate tectonic theory is
continental drift which
deals with Earth's
continents movement in
relation to each other. What is the Plate Tectonics
Theory?
Alfred Wegener first put
out the theory of
continental drift. That
theory then evolved into
sea floor spreading when
a man named Harry Hess
discovered that there
a…re underwater
mountain ranges
spreading laterally away
from them. That then
arrives at the current
theory of plate tectonics.
Three Types of
Tectonic
Boundaries
Convergent Plate
Boundaries-
where plates
move into one
another
Divergent Plate
Boundaries -
where plates
move apart
Transform Plate
Boundaries -
where plates
move sideways in
relation to each
other
