OTHER INFORMATIONS:
■ Formally recognized as the only accredited professional organization of Registered
Medical Technologists in the Philippines, when Presidential Decree No. 223 was
approved June 22, 1973 creating the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
■ National body with 46 provincial chapters nationwide and 4 international chapters –
PAME Singapore, PAMET Eastern Region Middle East, PAMET Western Region
Middle East, and PAMET USA with 13,000 members.

THE FIRST ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
■ First organizational meeting of PAMET was held on September 15, 1963 at the
Public Health Laboratory in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
■ Total of 20 representatives attended the org. meeting, 11 from allied medical
professions and 9 from five schools offering medical technology.

CORE VALUES
■ INTEGRITY – is the strict adherence to a moral code, reflected in transparent
honesty, truthfulness, accuracy, accountability for one’s actions, and complete
harmony in what one thinks, says, and does.
■ PROFESSIONALISM – refers to the positive traits and values, moral responsibility,
social responsiveness and behavioral outlook which makes one highly respectable
and credible.
■ COMMITMENT – is the unconditional, unwavering, and selfless dedication that one
builds-in into the practice of the profession characterized by initiative, creativity, and
resourcefulness to bring about quality health care and service to public.
■ EXCELLENCE – is the high quality performance by advocating and adhering to
international standards making services globally comparable and competent.
■ UNITY – is the necessary linkage, support, involvement and sharing that will
increase the success and advancement of every individual member and the
association in general.
Foreign Professional Societies
■ Professional societies for medical technologists exist around the world. Foreign and
local laboratory professional societies for medical technologists have same goals-to
elevate the practice of medical technology/medical laboratory science and
safeguard the welfare of their members. But each professional society has roles and
functions unique to itself.

■ A professional association seeks to further a particular profession, the interests of


individuals engaged in that profession and the public interest.
