The ultimate aim of our project is to monitor the number of boats entering and leaving the
fishing harbour by using RFID tags (Radio Frequency Identification).

Arduino uno connected to a RFID reader will perform this operation by reading the vessel
details.

In this project the evolution of wireless sensor networks will be presented, using RFID
Techniques with example of implementation in Fishing Boat Monitoring System.
To monitor the movement of the boat IN and OUT of the fishing harbour.

Helps to check the address and details of boat owners.

We can monitor the license status and help the boat owner to renew their license.

RFID is linked with Arduino to track the fishing boat in Harbour.

In this first chapter, the research problem is formulated through the definition of its
boundaries or delimitations.

Through the definition of the research problem the dissertation research

area is outlined.

Light is shed on specific research questions this repost is structured around

answering. The research approach adopted by this dissertation is briefly described
and justified.

 This chapter also includes the motivation for this research and the
overall contribution to the body of knowledge in the field.
At present there are no vessel monitoring system employed at fishing harbour in
Kanyakumari. GPS based tracking system has been proposed by some organization
but has not yet been implemented.

GPS based systems are currently being used for detection and control of Maritime
Boundary Intruding boats.
This system does not identify the number of entering and leaving boats.

The entering and leaving boat details are not stored in the PC or any other systems.

GPS tracking system have been proposed but not yet been implemented.

GPS systems are only used for detection and maritime boundary Intruding boats not
for the monitoring of entering and leaving boats.
In this boat monitoring system we are using RFID to sense the boat.

RFID has RFID reader and RFID tag. RFID is linked with Aurdino to monitor the
fishing boat in the harbour.

RFID tag is attached to the vessel and RFID reader is located to the junction of the
fishing harbour.

By using RFID we can easily check the address and the owner of the boat .we can
identify time of boats in the harbour.
RFID READER

RFID TAG

ARDUINO UNO

ULTRASONIC SENSOR

LCD DISPLAY

 BUZZER

Arduino is an open-source platform used for building electronics projects. Arduino
consists of both a physical programmable circuit board (often referred to as a
microcontroller) and a piece of software, or IDE (Integrated Development Environment)
that runs on your computer, used to write and upload computer code to the physical board.
Till now there is no system practically established for boat monitoring in the fishing
harbour.

By using RFID we can easily identify the owner of the boat.

We can identify the entering and leaving number of boats in the harbour.
The proposed system introduces wireless sensor networking using several sensors to
measure electrical parameters in transmission line, microcontroller and WIFI module which
make sensor network simple, low cost and more efficiently.

Further more, to monitor data from all over the world IOT environment is provided using
ARDUINO for creating gateway and also, cloud computing technology is used to monitor
data on the internet.

Moreover, to make system user-friendly web browser application is there. The operation of
fault protection in static relay concept was sensing more accurate and faster than
conventional relay.
At present all the information of the boats are stored and retrieved offline, this has
some drawbacks such as lower transparency etc.. so this system can be upgraded to an
online system by creating a website that links different fishing harbours and search
engines through which the movement of boats can be monitored.

Moreover in addition to RFID to monitor the entry and exit of boats it can be fitted
with GPS system to track vessels.
FUTURE SCOPE
..) (Cont.)
Further alert systems should be connected to boats in order to give alerts on
predicted offshore calamities. Additional informations can be stored on RFID chips..
such as the blood group of the owner etc to aid in case of disasters.

Additional GSM based information systems can also be used such that as soon as a
boat leaves or enters a harbor the owner receives a message to inform that his boat
has been scanned at the harbour whichever might concern.
