6 Features of classroom (Doyle 1986)

1. MULTIDIMENSIONALITY
- a broad range of activities
happens within the boundaries of
the classroom.
2. SIMULTANEITY
- many activities occur together in
the classroom.
3. IMMEDIACY
- immediate and on- the- spot
decisions about how to proceed.
4. UNPREDICTABILITY
- events take unexpected turns
thus it is often difficult to anticipate
how an activity will go on.
5. PUBLICNESS
- lack of privacy that causes
teachers to always be on guard
with their behavior while monitoring
their students.
6. HISTORY
- past events, whether positive or
negative, that affect what happens
in the future.
