Car sales and production decreased by 40% in
August
• Sales of cars overall decreased by 40.69% while
production has decreased by 40.83% compared
to August last year.
• Unsold vehicles reported at IMC and Honda Atlas
• Production days in a month for IMC and Honda
• 9,126 units sold compared to 15,389 last year
• Production of only 10,636 units compared to
18,202 units last year which shows negative
growth
• Honda car sales decreased by 68.36% from 3496
units to 1106 units
• Suzuki swift decreased by 53.60 % from 355
units to 164 units
• Toyota Corolla sales went down from 4202 units
to 1727 units (58.90%)
• Suzuki Cultus from 1380 units to 1289 units
• Wagon-R from 2450 units to 645 units
• Mehran from 2318 to 389 units
Reasons
• FED tax increased by the government
• Registration tax and tax brackets set up by the
government
• Luxury tax imposed on 1800cc+ cars
• Filer and non-filer issue, non filers were not
allowed to buy cars
• Excise has increased taxes on yearly tokens

Excise department sets new precedence by collecting
103% tax
• Minister of Information praised the excise taxation
and Narcotics control departments.
• The milestone was reached for year 2018-19 as
staff and officials worked with utmost dedication
• Department recovered 3,447 million against a
target of 3,364 million, which he gives credit to
good governance
• Amount achieved is 20% more than the previous
year
• MOU signed between excise taxation and anti-
narcotics in providing vehicles,
telecommunication and capacity building.
• KPK only province to raise it’s own anti-narcotics bill and
has own investigation cells
• Value of seized drugs was 1.8 billion in international
market
• Excise secretary talked about how target was achieved
through:
1. Regularizing un-registered vehicles
2. Removal of unauthorized number plates
3. Seizure and confiscation of 200 illegal vehicles worth

Petroleum imports dip 45pc: SBP
• Petroleum group imports into the country during current
financial year (2019-20) dipped by 45.22% compared to
last year
• Petroleum products’ imports decreased by 62.34% from
$365.613 million to $970.948 million
• Petroleum crude worth $319.548 million was imported
compared to $459.953 million in the July of last year
• Showing negative growth of 30.52%
• Import of natural gas decreased by 18.41% from by going
down from $365.877 million last year to $298.505 million
in July 2019
• Import of petroleum gas decreased by 38.3%,
decreasing from $4.239 million to $6.871 million
