BACKGROUND OF THE CASE
• The Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation publishes Manila
Bulletin, a daily news paper; Philippine Panorama, a Sunday
magazine; and Tempo, a tabloid. Proudly, the Manila Bulletin
has landed in the country’s prestigious roster of top 500
corporations.
• The Manila Bulletin Publishing did not just happen. It was a
result of meticulous planning, fearless foresight, and a
committed vision of one man. US Army man Carson C. Taylor. A
School teacher from Illinois, Taylor saw that a newspaper would
be a most potent tool to communicate with, inform, educate and
entertain the public.
BACKGROUND OF THE CASE
• Today The Manila Bulletin are faced to declining market shares
by 4% compared to its closest competitors The Philippine Daily
Inquirer and Philippine Star which rose 4% and 3% respectively.
The Decline in the market share can be attributed to competition
posed by other newspapers.
