Simple Present and Place Prepositions


Reading

Anderson uses his computer every day. He goes to school in the morning. At school,
he uses his computer to solve maths sums quickly and to draw pictures. In the
afternoon, he works at a bank. He loves his job. At bank, he uses the computer to
look after his customers’ money. In the evening, he takes a Computer Course at
IFTO. In the course, he uses the computer to program and develop programs. Upon
returning home, he uses the computer for different purposes: for doing his
homework; for listening to music; for sending and receiving e-mails. He can’t
imagine his life without computer. Anderson always tells his friends: “My computer
is my life”.

PREPOSITIONS – PLACES – IN / ON / AT
• AT HOME, I USE COMPUTER FOR SENDING AND RECEIVING E-MAILS.
A preposição em inglês AT é usada para indicar algo que está ao redor ou em um lugar ou
momento específicos. Além de ser usada para endereços (nome e número de um local).

• COMPUTER ARE USED IN HOSPITALS TO DIAGNOSE AND CURE PATIENTS.

Quando se trata de lugares podemos usar a preposição em inglês IN para indicar algo que está
localizado dentro de outro. Sendo assim, usamos para cidades, estados, países e objetos como
caixas, bolsas e etc.
• THERE ARE A COMPUTER ON THE DESK.
• Já a preposição em inglês ON é usada para indicar um objeto em cima ou sobre uma superfície,
incluindo também o nome de avenidas e ruas (sem que seja citado o número do local)
