•INTRODUCTION

•As the usage of vehicle is increasing drastically, the hazards due to vehicles
is also increased. The main cause of the accident is high speed, drunk and
drive, diverting minds, over stress and due to electronic gadgets[1]

•This project deals with the accident detection system that occurs due to the
carelessness of the person who is driving the vehicle. [1]

•This project is helpful in detecting the accident and alerting the nearby help
center by tracking the geographic location. [4]

•Due to lack of emergency facilities in our country, we are introducing the

automatic alert device for vehicle accidents.[4]
The arduino UNO is a widely used open source microcontroller board based
on the ATmega328P microcontroller and developed by arduino.cc.
The main intension of our project is to find the accident spot at any
place and intimating it to ambulance through the GPS and GSM
networks.[5]

The GPS based vehicle accident identification module contains MEMS,

GSM module and a GPS modem connected to the arduino.[5]

Global positioning system for mobiles (GSM) technology is used to

establish cellular connection[5]

GPS is used to trace the position of the vehicle.[6]

The project presents an automotive localization system using GPS

and GSM-SMS services.[6]
TYPES OF CAR ACCIDENTS
 VEHICLE ROLLOVER:

A rollover is a type of vehicle crash in which a vehicle tips over onto its side or
roof.
 SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT

A single-vehicle collision or single-vehicle accidentis a type of road traffic collision in

which only the one vehicle is involved. Included in this category are run-off-
road collisions, collisions with fallen rocks or debris in the road, rollover crashes within
the roadway, and collisions with animals.
 REAR-END COLLISION:

A rear-end collision (often called simply rear-end or in the UK a shunt) occurs when
a vehicle crashes into the one in front of it. Common factors contributing to rear-end
collisions include driver inattention or distraction
 SIDE-IMPACT COLLISION:

Side-impact accidents include direct broadsidecollisions, also called “T-

bone” collisions. A T-bone or side-impact collision is where one vehicle's front end
directly impacts the side of another vehicle.
 HEAD-ON COLLISION

A head-on collision is a traffic collision where the front ends of two vehicles such as cars,
trains, ships or planes hit each other when traveling in opposite ...

•ADVANTAGES

Accident alerts are given to the nearest control station on the very first moment of
collision.
A message will be send to a selected contact to inform about the accident.
The alert message will include the GPS location, so that the rescue action becomes
very fast.
A map can be displayed for the easy identification of the accident detection
•DISADVANTAGES
 Application doesn’t work in offline function.
