INTRODUCTION
• Airconditioning has been a part of our society for quite some time now and I’m
sure that everyone already knows what is going on between the unit and the user.
Airconditioning system makes sure that every person occupying the space would get the
requried ventilation or fresh and cooled air. Airconditioning critical rooms such as health
care centers are difficult because of the different factors to be considered. When
considering these factors, we must remember even the simplest things.

• Hospital facilities needs much more attention when designing for HVAC because of its
strict requirements per room. An example of this is the operating room which needs to
be supplied fresh air whenever in use. Clean rooms must never recirculate air and must
also need to be supplied fresh air and exhaust return air to keep its freshness.

• Standards would always be present in everything we do and we must learn to comply
with it through studying the codes and standards when designing healthcare facilities.
HVAC engineers put more time and critical thinking into what unit must they use and
how would they design the building’s airconditioning unit to its full potential.
SUBJECT OF THE REPORT
The main objective of the design project is to arrive in a design of an air conditioning
system for a three-storey life care hospital located at San Antonio, San Pascual, Batangas
City.Building layout includes the specifications included in the building, orientation, componenets,
and equipment. This includes the presentation of the evaluation of climate conditions.

• Load Calculation
By solving for the load calculations, we can get the heat and cooling capacity for each
room. And after we got the capacities per room then we can use those data to get the unit
we need for our building. Load calculation is the very first step in designing HVAC systems.
We must also refer to the standard tables such as ASHRAE.

• Piping and Ducting System

The piping and ducting design layout is included in the appendices. The conputation is also
shown below.

• A/C Equipment Selection

The design will utilize the use of chilled water type of airconditioning system and fan coil
units. Also, split-type will be used on some spaces.
Location
• The building is to be located at San Antonio, San Pascual, Batangas
City. The front elevation of the building is facing east and the rear is
facing west.
