Balance of Trade & payment in SERVICES between APRIL – AUGUST 2018 & 2019
 India’s export of services has shown an increasing trend from April , except for a small dip in June and
august whereas imports have also shown an increase from US$ 11,402 million in April to US$ 12,006 million
in august with a trade surplus in the above period. The trade surplus has shown fluctuations in the past five
months.

 India’s services exports are majorly destined to USA, UK and Japan.

 India's service sector is in surplus from April 2019 continuously.

 Real gross value added (GVA) is expected to grow by 6.7 per cent in 2019-20 and to rise by 7.1 per cent in
2020-21, supported by upticks in industrial and services sector activity.

 Hence, India is one of the fastest growing economies in trade of services in the world with major
contributing sectors being telecommunications, computer, and information services, commercial services
and travel.
