EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Primary investment objective of any individual or organization is to


maximize the returns and minimize the market risk.
In this report a comparative study is done between the mutual fund and
fixed deposit to know their risk and returns.
This project report is a finance project which tries to explain about the
history, growth, pros and cons of investing in mutual fund or in FD.
We also gave suggestion to the investors, to invest their money on
mutual fund or fixed deposit which provide good return.

A Mutual Fund is promoted by a sponsor and run


by a trust that pools the savings of a number of
retail investors who share a common financial
goal.
Mutual Fund offers diversified, professionally
managed portfolio at a relatively low cost.
A Fixed Deposit is a financial instrument
provided by banks or NBFCs which provides
investors a higher rate of interest than regular
savings account, until the given maturity date. It
may or may not require the creation of a
separate account.
OBJECTIVES OF RESEARCH

 To gain knowledge about various investment decision available in the


market.

To understand nature of mutual fund.

To examine customer perceptions toward mutual fund.

To examine difference in customer preference for mutual fund and fixed
deposits.

CONCLUSION

Mutual funds seems to be very much inflation adjusted returns whereas


FDs don't come with inflation adjustment guarantees.
 With respect to capital appreciation mutual funds are better than fixed
deposits.
 In terms of liquidity, these days both fixed deposits and mutual funds
are almost same.
Fixed deposits are less risk compare to mutual funds.
Mutual fund gives more tax benefit as compare to fixed deposit.
Mutual funds performs well than FD s in all the aspects but tremendous
awareness need to create among investors .
RECOMMENDATIONS

Be aware that investment in any securities whether in mutual fund or


fixed deposit, involves a certain risk. Analyze the risk with the financial
backups and then choose an investment option.
Make a good study before choosing an investment option.
