PHILIPPINE ARTS FESTIVAL
 In celebration of the NAM, NCCA organization has
come up with this annual festival

 Consists of a number of activities to highlight the


artistic talent and brilliance of the Filipinos

 Seven of the 19 national committees of NCCA-SCA –


architecture, cinema, dance, literature, music, theater,
and the visual arts - prepare the following programs

Cinema Rehiyon
 National Committee on cinema

 This activity focuses on film production from the


regions and independent filmmakers showcase
their latest films.
 Example: “Forbidden Memories” by Teng
Mangansakan which recalls the horrors of the
Marcos-era Malisbong massacre where innocent
civilians were killed by government troops in a 1
remote town in Sultan Kudarat circa 1974. 8
Sayaw Pinoy
 National Committee on Dance
 It is a tour dance concert showcasing
different types of dances such as ballet, hip-
hop, contemporary and folk dance
 Example: Halili Cruz Dance Company for
Sayaw Pinoy at the Rizal Park, Manila for
the Philippine Art Festival 2013 1

 Event gathering of writers, publishers and teachers for


literary talks and lectures
 A casual and intimate weekend featuring poetry
performances and awards, author talks and the
infamous Literary Burlesque.

 NCCA-CVA (Committee on Visual Arts) held several


visual arts congresses in regions since 1990 and a
Philippine Arts Festival in 2000.

Mindanao Visual Arts Trainor’s Training entitled
“Pananaw.” 6

 Sponsored Tanghal Theater Festival in 2013, featuring
regional theater organization and university drama
groups. “Ani ng Sining” was the theme of the festival.
 Provides support to community-based theater groups,
together with government agencies like DepEd,
DSWD, NGO and private sponsors.

Noche” of Joi Barrios has focused on some issues such
as poverty, injustice, flight of domestic and oversees
workers, and women’s issues

 Dulaang Kasing Sining formed in February 2015


addresses the concern of boholanos about the
destruction caused by the earthquake that struck them
in 2013
