NATURE OF LANGUAGE

• Language can have scores of characteristics


but the following are the most important
ones: language is arbitrary, productive,
creative, systematic, vocalic, social, non-
instinctive and conventional.

CONTENT OF K TO 13 PROGRAM

1. Mother Tongue (L1) - the language which


a person has grown up speaking from early
childhood.
◘ MTBMLED – utilization of more than
two languages
◘ BEP
K-12 CURRICULUM GUIDE, MT:
• Literacy is provided to give way for other language
with comprehension in reading development.
• Better learning through linking prior knowledge and
new information
• Development of HOTS through efficient and effective
use of language in the articulation of thoughts and
widening ideas.
• Bridges the gap between listening, speaking,
reading and writing the L2s (L2, L3) of the classroom
through the use of other languages for the lifelong
learning.
K-12 CURRICULUM GUIDE, MT:

• Scaffolding is assured as L1 extends a helping


hand to learning where the L2 id not maximized in
the process of teaching.
• The students are provided with much needed
skills to create meaning from the texts provided
them so that at the end accuracy in decoding texts
will be achieved.
• Develops confidence and proficiency for two or
more languages.

2.) Filipino – This language is mandated


policy of the government to ensure and
promote the evolution, development and
further enrichment of Filipino as the National
language of the PH.

3.)English – a unified framework to facilitate


the transition from acquiring and learning one
language to another.
