• Mental health disorders range from mild


disorders, such as social phobias, to severe
diseases including depression and suicidal
ideation.
• Mental health tends to be a low research
priority in public health.
• 1in 4 people are currently affected by mental
disorders, and 3 out of 4 do not receive any
treatments
• The stigmatization associated with mental
health in Nepal and pre-labelling of mental
health seeker as “mad” has created an enormous
barrier in identifying and addressing mental
health issues.

• Condition in which an individual has two or
more distinct personalities or identity states,
that may alternate within the sufferer’s
conscious awareness.

• People diagnosed with this condition have been


victims of sexual, physical, emotional abuse or
other forms of criminal mistreatment or trauma

• Stress is usually the trigger and it is used


mainly as a coping mechanism

• In terms of gender, women are more likely than


men to be diagnosed with the disorder.
