Why fables are written?

 Fables are written primarily to send a message/teach a lesson.


 When Aesop wrote his fables though it was also simply to brighten
people’s moods after a long day of work .Even though a fable’s
main goal is to represent a moral lesson,it is still a story and
entertaining and could simply taken for that.
WHO ARE THE AUDIENCE?

 Fables are directed primarily toward children,hence the animals


and fictional events,but can be enjoyable and educational for all
ages.
What is fables?

 A fable is a short tale,involving animals most often told or


written with a moral tagged on in the form of a proverb.To
convey a moral is the aim of most fables.This is
done,providing both an illustration of and compelling argument
for the moral.
 A fable is intended to provive a moral story.
 Fables often use animals as the main characters .they are
presented,anthropomorphic characteriistics,such as the ability
to speak and to reason.
 Fables personify the animals characters.
What makes it a fable?

• Fiction
• Short narrative(such as a short story or a folktale)
• Moral lesson
• Characters are usually animals that can talk and act like humans
but, maintain their animal characteristics
• A character usually represents just one human characteristics.
Where did fables come from?

 Aesop’s fables,or aesopica, is a collection of fables credited to


Aesop,a slave and storyteller believe to have lived in ancient
Greece between 620 and 564 (B.C.E)
Who is the Father of Fables?

 Aesop-the father of fables.Some scollars think Aesop never


existed.others belief he was a slave and storyteller.
 Written by a former GREEK slave, in the late to mid 16th century BCE,
aesops fables are the worlds best known collection of morality
tales that the fables numbering 725 were originally told from person-
to-person as much for entertainment porposes but largely as a
means for relaying or teaching a moral lesson.
