ORIGIN

The earliest looped fabrics was assumed to be

produced in middle east.
A kind of knitting called Nalbinding was the
earliest form of knitting. Nalbinding uses only
one knitting needle.
 This fragment from
Dura-Europos was
celebrated as the first
knitted garment in
history. It was
revealed as
nalbinding 200-256
An Egyptian pair of AD.
crossed knitted socks
that date back to
between the 3rd and
6th century AD are the
oldest ever found
knitted wear.

date to 7th century from
Egypt with loop pattern
that suggest they were
knitted in the traditional
hand knitting manner with
two needles.

• In Spain knitted cushion

have been found in the
tomb dating from 13th
century.
