DEFINITION ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION
TEXT
• Analytical Exposition is a type of text or oral material in English that is used
to explain the writer's view of an issue. In other words, this text is
argumentative text. This type of text is very popular among academics and
can be found in scientific books, journals, magazines, newspaper articles,
academic speeches, and so on. The purpose of this text is only to make the
reader or listener aware of an issue raised by the writer or speaker.
P U R P O S E O F A N A LY T I C A L T E X T
• To analyze the topic and to convince or influence the reader that this opinion
is correct and supported by arguments.
• To convince the reader that the topics presented was an important topic to be
discussed or gained attention by way of providing arguments or opinions that
support the main idea or topic.
GENERIC STRUCTURE OF ANALYTICAL
EXPOSITION TEXT
• Every text must have generic structure which is different with another text. Analytical Exposition
Text also has generic structure, those are :
• Thesis: it contains writer’s opinion about something. It also introduces topics and indicates the
writer’s position
• Argument : it contains the argument to support the writer’s position. The number of arguments may
vary, but each argument must be supported by evidence and explanation.
• Reiteration: Restating the writer’s point of view / to strengthen the thesis. We can use the following
phrase to make conclusion in reiteration :
– From the fact above …
– I personally believe …
– Therefore, my conclusion is …
– In conclusion …
EXAMPLE OF ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT

• Jogging is Good Exercise for Everyone


• Jogging is the simplest and cheapest sport you will ever find in this world. So it is good exercise for everyone.
• Jogging can be done anytime, anyday, and anywhere. And Jogging can be done alone or with friends.
• On average, it’s about 100 calories a mile, but it depends on your weight, shape and intensity of training. For
example, a woman weighing 68 kg burns 600 calories per 10 km.
• Jogging will keep your cardiovascular (heart pumping) in a good shape. And also you will find very few
people who will suffer from heart attack and stroke if they do this regularly.
• Jogging is also good for your mental health. Everytime you finish jogging, you will feel fresh. Some studies
have shown that people who jog will have better outlook of live and this will make they more happier than the
average people.
• So based on facts above, joging is good for everyone.
