• The story’s plot is about the losing of a home by some major reasons, such as separation
from each other. The techniques of writing is very stylistic and focuses on sociocultural
realm of Merlinda's story. The author speaks indirectly to the readers, which dictates the
effect when someone in the family leave for the purpose of working overseas and earning
for the family.
