Quadratic Function
A function f(x)=ax2 + bx + c where a, b,
and c are constants and a ≠ 0
The highest power of the independent
variable x is 2.
This can also be written as

y = ax2 + bx + c

Vertex Form of a Quadratic
Function and (h, k)
y = a(x – h)2 + k
STEPS:
1. Group together the terms containing x.
2. Factor out a.
3. Complete the expression in parenthesis to
make it a perfect square trinomial by
adding the constant and subtracting the
same value from the constant term.
4. Simplify and express the perfect square
trinomial as square of binomial.
Transform the ff to Vertex Form of a
Quadratic Function
y = a(x – h)2 + k
2
1. f(x) = x + 3x +2
2
2. f(x) = 3x - 13x -10
2
3. y = -2x + 12x – 17
2
4. f(x) = x + 5x +6

5. y= x − 3x + 3
