 The current century of the Anno Domini era or Common Era in accordance
with the Gregorian Calendar.
 It began on January 1, 2001 and will end on December 31, 2100. It is the first
century of the 3rd millennium.
 In this period one or more technologies is replaced by another technology in
a short period of time.
 An era of accelerated technological progress characterized by new
innovations whose rapid application and diffusion cause an abrupt change in
society.
 People in 21st century live in a technology and media-suffused environment,
marked by access to an abundance of information, rapid changes in
technology tools, and the ability to collaborate and make individual
contributions on an unprecedented scale.
INFORMATION AGE

 A historic period in the 21st century characterized by the rapid shift from
traditional industry that the Industrial Revolution brought through
industrialization, to an economy based on information technology.

 Associated with the invention of transistors, particularly the MOSFET


(metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor).

 According to United Nations Public Administration Network, this era


formed by capitalizing on computer microminiaturization advances.
INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

 Is a historical period in which significant changes were triggered in the


form of production that gradually turned most of the countries around the
world into industrial societies.

 It was characterized by the use of new technologies that were applied to


mass production.

GREAT INVENTORS
ELON MUSK

 Musk was born in South Africa in 1971. He spent his childhood there and
developed an interest in computer.

 He is most famously known for his companies Space Exploration


Technologies Corporation, or SpaceX and Tesla Motors. SpaceX was
founded with the intention of building space travel. Tesla Motors is
dedicated to producing fully-autonomous electric cars of the future.

 In 2008, the Tesla Roadster was launched. It range 245 miles per charge
on its lithium ion battery setting a new standard for electric mobility.
STEVE JOBS

 Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco, California in 1955. A hobby that
would later help him launch Apple Computer with co-founder Steve
Wozniak in 1976.

 Jobs and Wozniak are one of the few people in the world credited with
revolutionizing the personal computer industry.

 In a Newsweek article Jobs said, “If I look at myself and ask, `What am I
best at and what do I enjoy most doing?` I think what I`m best at is
creating sort of new innovative products.” His legacy remains in the Apple
brand and their products.
MARK ZUCKERBERG

 Mark Zuckerberg was born in 1984 in White Plains, New York. He


became interested in computers at an early age.

 Zuckerberg continued to develop software and with three friends


created a site that allowed users to create profiles, upload photos,
and communicate with others. They called it The Facebook.

 Time named him Person of the Year in 2010 and he landed on the
Fortune 500 in May 2013, the youngest CEO on the list.
INVENTIONS

 Multi-use Rockets
Elon Musk has made some tremendous contributions to our planet.
His company SpaceX has gone on to develop rockets that can be
recovered and reused for other launches.
It was 2017 when SpaceX became the first to use one of these
rockets again for another mission.
 The Capsule Endoscopy
First used in 2001, the technology uses a tiny wireless camera the size of a
common pill.
This allows doctors to explore and examine human body specifically the
digestive system to identify any potential internal bleeding, inflammation, or
cancerous tumors.

 Facebook
Introduced in 2004, wasn`t the first social media site to grace the internet but it
was by far the most influential.
Initially developed for Harvard students only, Facebook now has over 150
million users.
 The Phone
Alexander Graham Bell was credited with the invention of the telephone in 1876.
It was an apparatus that transmitted sounds through a cable via electrical signals.
 The Car
In 1885, Karl Benz developed the first internal combustion car that was shaped
like a tricycle. It was equipped with a small four-stroke engine, a horizontal
single-cylinder and had a carburetor as well as water cooling.
 The Plane
The Wright brothers of the US invented the first airplane. The idea arose in 1899
and on December 17, 1903.
 The Light Bulb
In 1809, Humphry Davy invented the first light bulb that gave light for 14
successive hours. Thomas Alva Edison developed and perfected it until reaching
the long-lasting bulb.
