Women

Empowerment
INTRODUCTION

Women's empowerment is the

process in which women elaborate and
recreate what it is that they can be, do,
and accomplish in a circumstance that
they previously were denied. Women's
empowerment is all about equipping and
allowing women to make life-
determining decisions through the
different problems in society.
DESCRIPTION

People are empowered

when they are able to access
the opportunities available
to them without limitations
and restrictions such as in
education, profession and
lifestyle.
STEPS AND ACTIONS THAT WE SHOULD TAKE TO
EMPOWER WOMEN AND TO ELIMINATE INEQUALITIES
BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE:

• Enabling women to articulate their

concerns and needs
• Promoting education, skill development,
and employment
• Eliminating all practices that discriminate
against women
• Eliminating violence against women
• Assisting women to establish and realize
their rights.
Based on the preliminary findings of
the 2018 National Demographic and Health
Survey (NDHS), one in four (26%) ever-
married women aged 15-49 has ever
experienced physical, sexual or emotional
violence by their husband or partner. One in
five (20%) women has ever experienced
emotional violence, 14 percent has ever
experienced physical violence, and 5
percent has ever experienced sexual violence
by their current or most recent husband or
partner.
