Globalization
• is the process of interaction and integration among people, companies, and governments
worldwide
• is primarily an economic process of interaction and integration that's associated with social
and cultural aspects.
• It has manifested the belief that the world is small and consumers are becoming more and
more alike thus allowing companies to use same marketing and advertising across region and
countries.
What is e-commerce localization and its
need
• The art of translating your online profile, product descriptions, database-driven content, and
graphic images into the language of your new target audience with cultural sensitive
accuracy.
NEED
• Globalization is taken negatively in many places mainly Europe where they find it
synonymous to Americanism and they also find MNC’s to be least trusted.
• Consumers are different as local and regional culture has profound effect in shaping
consumer demand.
Benefits of e-commerce site localization
• Ability to reach a wider audience with minimal effort
• Customers are more likely to build trust in your product
Some statistics :
• 70% of people read reviews and ratings before making a purchase
• 71% of customers feel that online consumer reviews make them more comfortable about
purchasing a product
• 63% of people are likely to purchase a product from a website if they see positive product ratings
and reviews
• 74% increase in product conversion – that’s what consumer reviews bring
So the key here is to provide it in their own language
Conclusion
If a consumer doesn’t see what they want almost instantly, they are likely to leave the website
and find a different eCommerce site better suited for their needs.
Understanding the cultural and local needs with eCommerce localization is imperative if one
would like to succeed in the global market
