Problem
A good research is …
1. Interesting
It attracts the attention of the
investigator to study the problem further.
It also makes him determined to work on it
until its completion.

2. Relevant to the needs of the people


Researchers must keep in mind that they
work not for themselves but for the people.
3. Innovative
It may be a restatement and a restructuring
of an old problem to make it new. It results will
be more relevant and useful to a greater
number of people.

4. Cost Effective
The 4M’s (Man, Money, Materials, and
Machinery) are needed in conducting research.
It should be economical and effective in solving
the problems of the society.
Good returns of the study therefore are
expected. In other words, the results or
returns of the study should be cost effective
to contribute the socio-economic recovery
of the country. Moreover, a researcher
should conduct a study in order to “invest
and harvest.”

5. Measurable and time-bound


A good research problem is measurable by
using research instruments, like tests,
questionnaires, rating scales, observations
schedules or interviews, and statistical
treatment to arrive at scientific and
meaningful results.
A good research can be completed within
a time frame stated. The shorter completion
of the project, the better.
