2.1. Creation of the Hungarian Aerospace Cluster
Organized by HAIF, founded in March 2006 by four small aircraft developer:

2.2. Objectives of the Cluster

1. Speed up the development of the Hungarian Aerospace Industry


2. Diversification of the best part manufacturers to aerospace
3. Creation of a network of aerospace and related industries
4. Development of new Hungarian designed small aerospace vehicles
5. Organize the production of these vehicles internationally - JVs
6. Organize and develop complementary capabilities among Hungarian firms
to be able to manufacture higher assemblies for large aircraft
7. Achieve sinergies and economies of scale using networking in the fields
of design, development, training, logistics, quality (AS 9100), IT, marketing
and certification
8. Introduction of modern management methods and principles to the SME
sector – six sigma, lean manufacturing
9. Develop new supplier relationships with other countries
10. Replace expensive foreign suppliers with local, low cost ones
11. Increase the Hungarian participation in EU founded aerospace projects

Objectives:

To provide organizational framework for Aerospace research in Hungary


To close the gap between the EU and Hungary in Aerospace technologies
To help the best research organizations to diversify into Aerospace
To devise a national strategy for aerospace research

To participate in space missions, FP7 and Clean Sky research programmes

The creation of the Cluster represents a new military-civil partnership as well


Main goals of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Cluster

• integrating partner’s capacities in the research and development areas of the main
scope of the cluster;
• unifying resources;
• systematizing and sharing knowledge in the field of UAV/UAS research and
development;
• sharing experiences and best practices;
• propagating results in the field of UAV and UAS research and development,
production, and maintenance;
• establishing synergies between cluster members;
• triggering new initiatives in the field of UAV and UAS research and development;
• establishing, enlarging and widening international co-operations in the knowledge-
triangle;
• cooperating with governmental organizations in legislation, certification and other
areas in order to speed up the development of the Hungarian UAS industry.

This UAV is suitable for mainly conducting public service (disaster relief, police, border security
and customs administration) missions and tasks. It is able to identify, observe and track
persons and vehicles from an altitude of 200–300 meters
6.2. The GENPRO project:

The GENPRO single-seat aerobatic aircraft developed in Jakabszállás


The GENPRO is a metal-composite aerobatic aircraft with 315 HP engine

The project started in 2014 with building a greenfield site in Jakabszállás near Kecskemét
The maiden flight of GENPRO in August 2016 in Jakabszállás

6.4. The Magnus Fusion 212 project

The Magnus Fusion 212 LSA received in 2017 the FAA approval
Magnus Aircraft Ltd. started to build a manufacturing plant near Pecs in 2017 - laying the
foundation stone ceremony
The construction of the 7500 sqm plant started in September 2017 at Pécs-Pogány airport
6.5. The greenfield investment of RUAG

RUAG opened a greenfield part manufacturing site in Eger in 2017


The plant with 180 strong workforce manufactures airframe parts for Boeing and Bombardier a/c
6.6. Our participation at AERO 2017 in Friedrichshafenben

With the support of the Hungarian National Trading House 10 Hungarian aeronautical companies
exhibited aircraft and parts in a 350 sqm National stand
The most visited Hungarian aircraft were the Skycruiser SC 200 gyrocopter, the EFUSION, the
Odonata amphibian and the Magnus Fusion 212 during the Aero 2017 exhibition

1. Increased role of Government in the development of our aerospace industry:
• With the coordination of the State a National Aerospace Strategy was formulated - 2012
• With Government financing -HITA- 2 industry publications were issued in English -2013/2014
• The UAV Cluster was created by the initiative of several Government organizations - 2014
• Hungary joined the European Space Agency – 2015
• Renewed participation in international aerospace events – Aero 2017, ILA 2018
2. Increased investment activity in the private aeronautical sector:
• Wizz Air built a new hangar - 2015
• GE Aviation has doubled the area of its facility in Veresegyhaz – 2015 szeptember
• Diehl Aircabin Hungary Ltd. has opend the second mfg facility in Nyírbátorban – 2015
• Geneviation Aircraft Ltd. built a development base in Jakabszállás - 2016
• RUAG built a greenfield manufacturing plant in Eger - 2017
• Magnus Aircraft Ltd. started to build a greenfield aircraft mfg plant near Pecs – 2017
