• was an art movement in the mid 1940's.


It originated in Greenwhich Village, New
York.
• Abstract Expressionism includes aspects
of cubism, surrealism, and
abstractionism.
• often characterized by gestural brush-
strokes or mark-making, and the
impression of spontaneity.
