Abstract:
India is the third largest producer of the coconuts in the world but first place in production of coir. At present coir industries
produce different products using different methods .In this we have implement the lean tools for producing these products for minimizing
wastages. Lean tools is known principles used in today’s industries to eliminate various hidden waste that do not add value to the finished
Product.The concept lean tools has many advantages which have helped many companies over the years to stay more competitive in
Global and national business.Small scale industries plays an important role in indian economy. It has emerged as powerful tools in
providing relatively layer employement next to coir industries.
Introduction:
• COIR:
Coir or coconut fibre is a natural fiber extracted from the husk of coconut and used in products such as floor
mats,door mats, brushes and mattresses etc…Coir is the fibrous material found between the hard internal shell and outer
coatof the coconut.Other uses of brown coir (made from ripe coconut) are in sacking and horticulture.White coir,harvested
from unripe coconuts used for making finer brushes, string, rope and fishing nets.It has the advantage of not sinking, so can be
used in long lengths deep water without the added weight dragging down boats and buoys.
• Lean tools:
Lean includes a wide range of principles and tools with the goal of identifying and removing waste to increase
process velocity.

Conclusion:
India producing very high amount of coir and in the process of producing products from coir we
waste so much of coir. So, implementing these tools in coir industires we can reduce the wastage and thus productivity
increases.
