SIMPLE RANDOM SAMPLING
A sample selected so
that each item or person
in the population had
the same chance of
being included.
Example:
Jane and Joe Miley operate the Foxtrot
Inn, a bed and breakfast in Tyron, North
Carolina. There are eight rooms available
for rent at this B&B. Lister below is the
number of there eight rooms rented each
day during June 2009.
A population is divided
into subgroups, called
strata, and a sample is
randomly selected from
each stratum.
