WHAT IS SOCIAL MEDIA?
• Social media is a term for the online platforms that people use to connect with others,
share media content, and form social networks like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Tumblr,
Instagram, Pinterest , Skype,YouTube.
• Online multiplayer games, like World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Clash of Clans and The
Sims are also becoming important social media spaces and gaming chat sites are also popular
ways for children and teenagers to connect with others who share their particular gaming
interests.
• Using social media means uploading and sharing content. This includes:
• creating online profiles
• posting comments or chatting
• uploading photos and videos
• sharing links
• tagging photos and content
• creating and sharing game modifications
• remixing or changing existing content and sharing it.
• Social media platforms and functionality are always changing so it’s a good idea to keep up to
date with the social media

• Social Media has both Negative and Positive effects on children and adults equally.
• Social media is a fantastic tool for networking, communications, awareness raising and
marketing. We use it widely and we promote it to all of our clients and students. However,
even social media has a risky side, with fake profiles sometimes being used to gather personal
data and business information

• Be careful what you post - remember that almost anything you post can be re-posted
• Avoid ideology unless you plan to be active in the public domain

• Think before posting images - do you want your relatives or employer to see them?
• Think before tagging others - do they want to be tagged online?

changed so many things. Earlier people used to read the newspaper in the
morning, but now everyone looks into their social media accounts for updates.
People’s lifestyle is changing because of the evolution of social media.
Consequently, everyone is almost an addict to social media in one or the other
way. Above all, it is a wonderful place to interact with friends and peers. But if
the same thing is used in a wrong way then it becomes very disastrous. Hence,
we should use social media up to a limited extent but not beyond that. In this
