foraged for much of their feed, eating insects, grain spilled
by cattle and horses, and plants around the farm. this was
often supplemented by grain, household scraps, calcium
supplements such as oyster shell, and garden waste.
OBJECTIVES:

• TO BE ABLE TO CALCULATE % PROTEIN, % CALCIUM AND% PHOSPHORUS AND ME IN

FORMULATING CHICKEN FEEDS.
• TO MONITOR THE GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF CHICKEN FED WITH HOME-MIXED RATION.
PROCEDURE:
1. AVAILABLE INGREDIENTS AND THEIR NUTRIENT COMPOSITION.
• D1
• COPRA MEAL
• BANANA MEAL
• SOYBEAN MEAL
• SHRIMP MEAL
• HAMMER CORN
• OIL
• VIT.MIN
2.THE REQUIRED CP, CA + P + ME OF THE
DIFFERENT
STAGES OF CHICKEN
3.PROCUREMENT MATERIALS NEEDED FOR CHICKS,
FEED INGREDIENTS ETC.
4. FEEDING OF BIRDS

• The initial weight of the

birds
Figure no.1
initial weight 300 gram
FIGURE NO.2
initial weight 2.50 gram
• Cleaning of the surrounding areas waterer and
feeder
• Weighing of feeds before feeding and weighing
of refuse (daily).
• 5 kg of feeds
• The final weight afte 30 days
Figure no.1
Chicken weighing 1.7kg which is suitable for how many days they
feed.
Figure no.2
weighing 1.6kg
5. CALCULATION:

• weight gain = final weight – initial weight

figure no.1 = 1.7kg- 300g= 1.4kg
figure no.2 = 1.6kg- 250g= 1.35kg
• cost of feeds

GROWING RATIONS:
• After the chicks are five to six weeks old they
