It is a way to make professional contacts – networking.
It’s an easy way to be prepared for an interview.
It’s NOT Facebook. Start fresh and control the content.

Compelling Summary (40 words or more ,include keywords)

Education, Achievements and Certifications
Update your educational qualifications. Right from your schooling to
your highest degree pursued or pursuing.
Enlist all your achievements until today.
Mention about all your hard earned certifications.
Keep it real, avoid faking about your achievements and certificates.
Images, Links and URL
Post images of your professional activities. (For e.g. While anchoring
or working on an event, business meeting, etc.)
Provide links of work done by you on your profile. (For e.g. blogs,
google drive links, research papers, etc.)
Do share your LinkedIn profile URL on your resume and also in the
mail body text while applying for jobs.
Skills, Endorsements and Recommendations
Mention about your skill set as well as technical proficiencies. Your
skills can include Microsoft Office, Public Speaking, Managerial
Skills, Team Building , Leadership, CMIE, J-gate, EBSCO Host, etc.)
Ask for endorsements from your colleagues. Request them to write
about what they feel is the best about you professionally.
Ask your connections to recommend your profile.
Also, do not forget to endorse and recommend your colleagues.
Highlight Volunteer Experience & Causes
What do I do on LinkedIn? How do I grow?
Check often – daily if you can.
Personalize invitations to connect.
Ask for an introduction from someone you know to someone you would like
to know.
Don’t ask directly for a job.
If someone doesn’t respond you may ask again, but then leave it.
If you don’t know who is asking you to connect you may ask them to
remind you. If you don’t know them – click on the I don’t know this person
button.
Post professional status up-dates on LinkedIn.
