REFLECTION

Schools play an important role in preparing and empowering learners to assume

responsibility for creating and enjoying a sustainable future. Such an approach
involves a vision of education and teaching and learning that seeks to help all learners
better understand the world in which they live, to enable them to face the future with
hope and confidence.

ESD involves the development of attitudes, behavior and skills for sustainability. We
can foster the skills, such as critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving in our
students by creating problem-based learning, cooperative learning, and group
discussions in the classroom, and in the future, they can transfer these skills into their
workplaces and community.

As educators and role models for our students, we must practice sustainable
education ourselves before being able to teach our students about sustainable
education. This is our responsibility to always practice cultured values so they would
appreciate and protect the environment and gain a more integrated view of how the
world operates and how their actions can contribute to sustainable development. This
is important because these young people are the future of our society.
