Devices for
Storing files
Different devices are used to store files and
folders in MS Windows, the devices are:
1) Hard Disk: usually can be found inside the computer and all the
programs
installed on the computer , data files and user files are stored in it.
2) CD-RW (Compact Disk-Re-writeable): is used to store data files or
user files. It is portable which means you can take then wherever
you want.
3) DVD-RW (Digital Versatile Disk or Digital Video Disk Re-
writeable): these devices are similar to CD-RW but they can store
larger amounts of data than CD-RW.

Different devices are used to store files and folders in MS
Windows, the devices are:
4) USB Flash Drive: is an external and portable device that can be
connected
to the computer using USB ports.
5) Network Drive: this devise is used to store files that are shared between
several users. Hence , this device can be accessed by various computers
that are connected to a network.

Control Panel
• This area is the central location from which aspects of the Windows 10 operating
system can be managed. There are three views that can be used to display items in
the Control Panel.
• -Category – In this view, Control Panel items are divided into eight categories. Links
to the most common tasks are available under the category name.
• -Large Icons – When this option is selected, the All Control Panel Items window will
display. A list of all the Control Panel items will display.
• -Small Icons - When this option is selected, the All Control Panel Items window will
display. A list of all the Control Panel items will display.
• The most common tasks within each category are listed below the category name.
Within the Control Panel category, clicking the subcategory opens that item’s
window; clicking a task jumps to a specific command center available from the item’s
window.

Personalizing
Desktop
Personalizing the Desktop: you can personalize your
desktop to change its appearance, you can change :
The background image.
The screen saver used.
The sound scheme and more.
To personalize your desktop:
1.RT-click anywhere within empty space on the desktop,
and then “Personalize” or
2. Start – Control panel – personalization
3. Strat –setting - personalization

You can change desktop background by:
RT-Click on any intended picture Set as desktop background
OR
Click on “Desktop background” in “Personalization” window (see previous slides),
the below window will appear: as explained before

1) Right-click in any blank area on the desktop and select
Personalize to open it.

Like most Windows versions since XP, Windows 10 allows you to log in to
different user accounts when using your computer. Like we discussed earlier,
you can choose which account you want to log in to after turning on the
computer.
But you can also configure
or manage your user
account after you’re logged
in. To do this, follow these
steps −
Step 1 − Open the Start
Menu.
Step 2 − Click on Settings
Step 3 − From
the SETTINGS window,
choose Accounts option.

Step 4 − In the ACCOUNTS window, choose the account setting you want to
configure.
If you want to change your sign-in options, like your password, select Sign-in options.
Under Sign-in options,
Windows 10 lets you
change your
password. It also lets
you choose when the
computer will ask you
to sign in.

Step 4 − In the ACCOUNTS window, choose the account setting you want to
configure.
If you want to change your sign-in options, like your password, select Sign-in options.
Under Sign-in options,
Windows 10 lets you
change your
password. It also lets
you choose when the
computer will ask you
to sign in.
