VISAYAS
• Consists of seven provinces,
namely, Aklan, Antique,
Negros Occidental, Capiz,
Guimaras, and Ilo-Ilo.
A province in the Philippines located in the Western Visayas
region. Its capital is Kalibo. The province is situated in the
northwest portion of Panay Island, bordering Antique to the
southwest, and Capiz to the east. Aklan faces the Sibuyan Sea and
Romblon province to the north.
BORACAY

A small island in the central Philippines. It's known for its


resorts and beaches. Along the west coast, White Beach
is backed by palm trees, bars and restaurants. On the
east coast, strong winds make Bulabog Beach a hub for
water sports. Nearby, the observation deck on Mount Luho
offers panoramic views over the island. Offshore, coral
reefs and shipwrecks are home to diverse marine life.

PRODUCT, AND FESTIVAL
“Inubarang manok”, which is described in the menu as "A
truly Aklanon stew-like dish of native chicken and "ubad"
(core of a banana stalk), cooked in coconut milk and
lemongrass”.

Aklan is very proud of its pineapple fiber, also


known as “Piña”. For example we have the Barong Tagalog,
the national Philippine costume for male and Baro’t Saya, the female
counterpart of Barong Tagalog, both are a product of piña fabric and
are a top export product.
 The Ati-Atihan festival is celebrated
every January, culminating on the
month’s third Sunday.
 The festival is known as the oldest festival in
the country and the precursor to both Cebu’s
 famous Sinulog festival and Iloilo’s
Dinagyang.
 The Ati-Atihan also bears a deep religious
significance. The pahilot, a faith-healing
tradition, is held during the festival where a
Catholic priest rubs the devotee’s body with
the image of the Santo Niño, with the belief
that it heals both the body and soul.
Is one of the provinces found in the Western
Visayas region of the Philippines. It is one of the
four provinces that occupy Panay Island, along with
Aklan, Capiz, and Iloilo. In history, the province's
name was a derivative of the native word “hantique”,
which means large red ants.
TIBIAO RIVER

 The Tibiao River is one of the best white


water rivers in the country perfect for
kayaking. In fact, it hosted the first
“International Kayaking Cup,” which
was initiated by Tibal Adventures, Inc.
in 1997.
 The Tibiao River boasts of crystal clear
waters suitable for white water
rafting/kayaking at various grades of
difficulty. Courses are available for
those interested to experience this
challenging recreational outdoor
activity.
TRADITIONAL DISH,
PRODUCT, AND FESTIVAL
Buko Batchoy,  a bowl of this soup usually
tastes really sinful (with all the fatty but
succulent components in it), this diner offers a
fresher, lighter take on the Ilonggo favorite.
Served in a coconut shell, the broth tastes
sweet without being overpowering.

Muscovado sugar is a specialty brown sugar


that is very dark brown and has a particularly
strong molasses flavor. It is an unrefined sugar
obtained by the evaporation of cane sugar juice
in open kettles and draining off the molasses.
Tatusan Festival is a thanksgiving for
bounty received, highlighting a parade of
colorful and crab-shaped floats, street
dancing and booth display/ sale of coconut
crab or tatus of various sizes.
Negros Occidental

The sugar capital of the Philippines


and aiming to be the Organic Food
Bowl of Asia. Celebrate nature’s
blessings, go hiking & camping, fishing
& angling, scuba diving & snorkeling..
Negros Island was originally called
“Buglas”, an old native word that is
thought to mean “Cut-off.”
THE RUINS
The Ruins is the remain of

“Chicken Inasal” commonly known simply as inasal, is a
variant of ”lechon manok, chicken marinated in a mixture
of calamansi, pepper, coconut vinegar and annatto, then
grilled over hot coals while basted with the marinade. It
is served with rice, calamansi, soy sauce, chicken oil
and vinegar (often sinamak vinegar, a palm vinegar
infused with garlic, chili peppers and langkawas).

A famous delicacy from the country’s sugar capital,


Negros Occidental, “Piaya” is a round and unleavened
bread with muscovado filling, essentially unrefined sugar
and molasses produced by sugar centrals in the province.
It is made by flattening dough with the muscovado
mixture on the inside, a sprinkle of sesame seeds on top
and baked on a hot griddle. Piaya is best served hot and
pairs nicely with coffee as a snack or dessert.
SINAGAYAN FESTIVAL
 It is a yearly thanksgiving out of
appreciation for St. Joseph, the
supporter holy person of the city.
Sagay gets its name from sigay, a
brilliant, univalve-shelled mollusk
that was once abundant on the
city's sandy shores.
 Sinigay sa Sagay is an upheaval of
workmanship and culture by the
delicate, euphoric, and dedicated
Sagaynons. Beside being a fete for St.
Joseph, the city's supporter holy
person, it is additionally an
expressive affirmation of thanksgiving
for as long as year, and Sagay's
method for protecting its pleased
legacy.
CAPIZ
 Capiz is known for the Placuna
placenta oyster shell that has
the same name locally and is
used for decoration and
making lampshades, trays,
window and doors.
 Capiz is the site of the famous
coral-stone Santa Monica
Church in the town of Pan-ay,
home to the largest Catholic
Church bell in Asia.
 The province is known as the
"Seafood Capital of the
Philippines" and was among
the top 15 most frequently
visited places in the
Philippines.
Baybay Beach in Roxas City,
Capiz is popular weekend spot
for locals and visitors from
nearby towns and provinces.
With its seven-kilometer long
stretch of sugar-fine glittery
black sand and relatively calm
waters, the beach is ideal for
swimming, snorkeling,
kayaking and skimboarding.

BAYBAY BEACH
TRADITIONAL DISH,

Bulad or dried fish is a major product of
the province of Capiz considering that it is
blessed with miles and miles of rich
coasts. There are several varieties of
dried fishes that can be found in Capiz
that makes it a captivating land for the
middleman sellers of dried fish in Metro
Manila. Sellers of dried fish earn a living
simply by exporting these to other areas
in the country as well as abroad.
Ornaments made from Capiz Shells
Known as one of the most versatile and elegant decorating raw materials,
the Capiz shells are very important part of the culture of the local Capiznon.
It is bread and butter source for many locals who engage in developing all
sorts of designs for use as ornamental decoration in houses. The Capiz
shells when used as ornaments and decors turn simple living into elegant
and cozy-looking environment.
"Sinadya sa Halaran"

is a merging of the Roxas City Fiesta


"Sinadya" and the Province celebration
of "Halaran". "Sinadya sa Halaran" is a
commemoration of the feast of the
patroness of Roxas City which is the
Immaculate Concepcion and a
thanksgiving. It literally means "Joy in
Sharing and Thanksgiving" . Rituals and
festivities of every municipalities where
captivated in this occasion. Fireworks,
grand parade, fluvial processions, fair
and food festival, street dancing, and
exhibits are some of the things to see of
this event
Guimaras Island is a favored destination
by both foreign and domestic tourists
because of its picturesque beaches,
waterfalls, springs, off shore islets, and
its famous mangoes, which is considered
one of the sweetest in the
world. Guimaras is an island province of
the Philippines located in the Western
Visayas region.
Alubihod Beach in the island province of
Guimaras may not have the powdery white
sand of the beaches in Palawan or Boracay, but
it has its own charm. The cream-colored shore,
blue-tinged waters, and rock formations dotting
the beach are picturesque in their own right.
Relax, unwind, and rent a tricycle to explore the
island or hop on a boat to explore nearby
attractions.

A fruity and tangy twist for pizzas. It’s not


prepared like the usual “Hawaiian pizzas”
where we find pineapples so expect a totally
different one.

MANGO PIZZA

The island province is famous for producing one of


the sweetest mangoes in the world, thus earning the
nickname "Mango Capital of the Philippines" from
local and foreign tourists. Guimaras mangoes are
reportedly served at the White House and 
Buckingham Palace.
MANGGAHAN FESTIVAL

Manggahan Festival is a month long


celebration of Guimaras’ rich culture, and
their feast of thanksgiving for having
bestowed a rich land where delicious
mangoes are being grown. Originally, it
was just a week-long celebration of
Guimaras as an independent province
since May 22, 1992, but through the years,
with all the success that the province has
attained, Manggahan Festival has evolved
to a more vibrant and fun- filled month
long event.
A province of the Philippines,
located in the center of the
Philippine archipelago. The
province comprises the
southeastern part of Panay Island
with island-province of Guimaras
just across its coast. The capital city
of the province of Iloilo is the City
of Iloilo, which is also one of the
major urban centers in the
Philippines. It is nicknamed “The
Heart of the Philippines”.
` CAMIÑA

The Filipino Bahay Kubo, or cube house,


dictates the shape of the structure. The
shutters, or ‘ventanillas’, are made of mother
of pearl, known locally as capiz. The walls are
batten and board, the floors
are narra and kamagong hardwood. The
Ñ ceiling is made of nipa and bamboo, plaited
in a sawali weave. Most of the pottery inside
the house comes from Isla de Gigantes, a
group of islands off Panay The original
wooden posts, 24 massive rough hewn tree
trunks known as haligis, still hold up the
building.

LA PAZ BATCHOY is one of Iloilo’s
best-known signature dishes and a
must-try delicacy served in
restaurants all over Iloilo City.

Traditional Ilonggo bread products that Ilonggos are
known for.
DINAGYANG FESTIVAL

Dinagyang Festival is one of the biggest and


world-class festivals in the Philippines. It
traces the history of devotion to the Holy Child
Jesus popularly known to Filipino devotees as
Sr. Sto. Nino

The Participants show impressive


choreography with colorful tribal
costumes and striking props to present
socio-cultural and religious tableaus
depicting life in Panay before the
Spanish colonization and the advent of
Catholicism in the country.
