Sphygmomanometer
Called also Blood pressure meter
It is divided into two types :
Manual and Digital
Composition : Inflatable cuff plus
mercury manometer
It is a device used in measuring
blood pressure
self-inflating resuscitation
bag
Ambu type bag is one of example
It is inflated with oxygen when
you squeeze it
Can be used in adult and children
Used in breathing difficulty
emergency cases
Oxygen delivery system
It is classified in numbers and
colors
It is very important because it
contains a sufficient amount of
oxygen
Can be delivered either via face
mask or nasal canula
We use it in emergency cases like
: Shock , trauma , MI,Hypoxemia
4-Suction units and tips
It has two types fixed or portable
It is better to have the portable
one , because it is better to move
the suction unit to the patient
instead of moving the patient to
suction unit.
Note : The suction unit is better
than oxygen delivery because we
have to clear the airway to
facilitate the oxygen delivery .
Suction unit (portable)
orophargeal airway
This device is used to prevent the
tongue from falling backward
thus avoid the airway obstruction
It is used in unconscious patients
cricothyrotomy needle
It is an average of 10 gauge
It is used if the airway is
obstructed and no facility of
tracheotomy
It is conservative way
It is done by insertion of the
needle between the thyroid and
cricoids cartilage helping in gas
exchange
cricothyrotomy needle
AED
It is strand for : Automated external
defibrillator
It is a device used by stimulating
heart by producing low eclectic
currents
Emergency cases used : Cardiac
arrest , venticular fibrillation
Pocket mask with oxygen
port
It is portable device with oxygen
delivery
It is important so we avoid the
direct mouth-mouth contact
breathing thus decreasing the
cross infection
Magill intubation forceps
Can be used to remove foreign
body fall in upper airway .
Can be used to place pharyngeal
packs
Using to guide the tracheal tube
into the larynx during
trachestomy
Tourniquets
Used in laboratories , helping the
technician to identify the vein
quickly .
Used to control the bleeding in
upper limb
Note: don’t leave it for long
time , because can lead to
Ischemia thus necrosis .
