UNIT
7TH GRADE PHYSICAL EDUCATION

OBJECTIVE

Students will be able to identify and explain the characteristics of the fundamental skills of soccer: passing,
shooting, and passing a soccer ball.

Students will be able to distinguish between the difference of passing, shooting, and dribbling a soccer ball.

Students will be able to demonstrate appropriate behavior throughout the lecture by encouraging and aiding
students that are struggling with the skill.

What is the purpose of passing a soccer ball?

The purpose of passing a soccer ball is to keep possession of the ball by maneuvering the ball on the ground
between different teammates with the intention of advancing with the ball up the field. 

What are some ways that passing a soccer ball helps a soccer player?

Aids soccer players who are in difficult situation against opponents of the field.

Stores endurance and reduce opponent’s stamina.

Finds new opportunities for defensive and offensive tactics.


WHAT ARE THE STEPS OF PASSING A SOCCER BALL
. Player plants his or her foot to the side and fairly close to the ball

. The big toe of the plant foot is pointed at the target

. The striking foot is rotated

. The striking leg swings from the hip away from the ball

. The striking foot is held with the heel down and toe up to form a strong and large striking surface

. Decide who are you are passing to and be careful when you pass the ball

. Keep the ball close

What is the goal of shooting a soccer ball?
The goal of shooting  a soccer ball is to generate an amount of  internal and external force within the lower
and upper extremities with the intention of scoring a goal in the opponent's goal

What are some ways that shooting a soccer ball helps a soccer player?

. APPROACH FROM BEHIND AND AT A SLIGHT ANGLE

. LEAN FORWARD AND PLANT SUPPORTING FOOT BESIDE BALL

. BEND SUPPORTING LEG AND KEEP ARMS OUT TO SIDES FOR BALANCE

. DRAW BACK KICKING LEG WITH FOOT EXTENDED

DRIBBLING A SOCCER BALL
What is the objective of dribbling a soccer ball?
The objective of dribbling a soccer ball is maneuvering a ball with the lower extremities and
maintaining balance with the upper extremities. A soccer player intention  to avoid one or more opponents in a
given direction, and avoiding defenders' attempts to intercept the ball. 

What are some ways that dribbling a soccer ball helps a soccer player?

Allows the player to maneuver the ball around the field without losing possession.

Allows the player to keep possession of the ball.

Allows the player to carry the ball past an opponent.

. Face the defender

Review the 10 steps of passing a soccer with a friend.

After reviewing the 10 steps of passing, shooting, and dribbling a soccer ball, test your friend’s
knowledge.

Next, find a open area in the class and practice the 10 steps of passing a soccer ball.

One student performs the skill for a minute against a wall while the other student evaluates their friend’s performance skill.

Once time is up, the person without the ball provides feedback to the friend

Finally, switch roles and follow the same procedure
