Howdy Modi – The Event
Howdy Modi was a community summit hosted by Texas India Forum (TIF) for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President of the United States Donald Trump on Sunday, September 22nd at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
Over 50,000 attended the sold-out event,
making it the largest gathering for an invited foreign leader visiting the United States. The Texas India Forum, Inc. (TIF) is a not-for-profit organization that encourages cooperation between the United States and India, advancing the shared values of democracy, inclusive economic development, and mutual respect. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- TIF brings together Indian-American organizations and institutions to encourage collaboration within the region and expand opportunities for engagement with India. Why Houston ? Houston is the fourth-largest city with a population of over 1,30,000 Indian-Americans. “Houston has a very vibrant Indian diaspora and it’s a big energy capital. Energy security is a top priority of India,” BJP’s foreign affairs head Vijay Chauthaiwale said from Houston. “India needs energy, and Houston has lots of energy. There could be a strategic partnership,” said Jugal Malani, chair of the Texas India Forum. Who all were attending ‘Howdy, Modi!’ event The event has been sold out with over 50,000 people registering for the mega community summit. The most significant attendee, however, was US President Donald Trump. Modi had earlier addressed the NRI community at Madison Square Garden in New York in September 2014 Trump’s attendance at ‘Howdy, Modi!’ event and the 2020 elections Will ‘Howdy, Modi!’ impact India-American ties? Fun time !
