The Continent
Africa has a total land area of 30.3
million square kilometers

Africa is made up of 53 countries which


includes 6 islands. They are Sao Tome,
Principe, Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius,
Seychelles and Cape Verde. The largest
country is Sudan and the smallest country is
the Seychelles Islands. There is big
difference, Sudan is 2 505 000 square
kilometers and the Seychelles are 270
square kilometers.
Overall, Africa is the second largest
continent in the world, Asia is the only
continent with a larger land area.

Africa can be found both on the north and the
south of the equator. Each side has different
Physical physical features. In the north it has dry rocky
land and sand dunes. In the south, there are

deserts and plains. The plans are called
savannahs which are big flat areas of land with
Africa has many different physical grasses and trees covering the land. There are
features also mountain ranges and plateaus which high
flat plains. Rivers run from the mountains to the
sea. Near the equator rainforests grow because
it is much wetter.
