PENGGUNAAN PAST CONTIONOUS

Past continuous tense merupakan sebuah bentuk tenses untuk menyatakan

peristiwa yang sedang terjadi di masa lampau. Bentuk tenses ini, dapat disela
oleh peristiwa lain, dan juga dapat digabungkan dengan peristiwa lainnya di
waktu yang bersamaan. Misalnya, Anda sedang mencuci kemarin siang, saya
sedang menyapu lantai ketika kamu mengetuk pintu tadi pagi, atau kita sedang
membersihkan rumah ketika ada gempa tadi malam.
 PAST CONTINOUS TENSE
POSITIVE
Contohnya: - The girl was always Yelling out loud
- I was reading a book in the library
at this time yesterday
- At 8 this morning we were eating breakfast with
him

Rumus yang digunakan adalah:

S + be(was/were) + V1-ing/present participle

Keterengan penggunaan:
Was I He She It

Were You They We

 PAST CONTINOUS TENSE
NEGATIVE

-You were not answering when I called

- He was baking a bread when I came.
- We were not doing physically exercises at 7 a.m
this morning

Rumus yang digunakan adalah:

S + be(was/were) + not + V1-ing

INTROGATIVE
- Was the team winning the game yesterday?
- Who were reading gardening books in the library at 10:00?
- Where were you meeting your client at 11 a.m yesterday?
- Which book were they reading in the library at 10:00?
- What was she doing in the club last night?
- How fast was Reza driving when you called him?
- Why were they reading in the library yesterday?
- When was he coming to my house?

Rumus Yang digunakannya, yaitu:

be(was/were) + S + V1-ing/present participle?
WH-word+ be(was/were) + S +V1/present participle

Tetapi untuk WH-word How dan Which rumusnya berbeda dengan yang diatas karena rumusnya adalah
How + adverb/kata keterangan+ be(was/were) + S + V1-ing
Which + noun + be(was/were) + S + V1-ing/present participle
