SCENARIO 2
BAKTERIA

A group of students FKG UNBRAH are doing

microbiology lab. They have been assigned to
observe bacteria removed from cavities or tooth
caries. Streptococcus mutans are the main bakterium
cause of the dental caries. At the laboratory
inspection of this streptococcus mutans is coccus or
round. Streptococcus mutans are a positive gram
bacteria that is optional anaerob.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

1.Students are able to understand and explain bacteria in

microscopic ways.

2.Students are able to understand and explain morphology of

bacteria.

3.Students are able to understand and explain the types of bacteria.

4.Students are able to understand and explain character of bacteria.

1.Students are able to understand and explain bacteria in
microscopic ways.

Bacteria are composed of cell walls

and cell contents. The outside of the cell
wall is a sheath or capsule. In bacterial
cells there is no inner membrane
(endomembrane) and membranous
organelles such as chloroplasts and
mitochondria. Bacterial body structure
from the outer layer to the inside of the
cell, namely flagella, cell wall, cell
membrane, mesosome, sheet,
photosynthetic, cytoplasm, DNA, plasmids,
ribosomes, and endospores
2.Students are able to understand and explain morphology of
bacteria.

Bacterial size is microscopic meaning it can be seen using a microscope.

Based on the shape, bacteria are divided into three major groups,
namely:

l lum
Coccus Bacillus Spiri
3.Students are able to understand and explain types of
bacteria.
• Bacteria Genus Streptococcus
• Bacteria Genus Eschericia

• Bacteria Genus Neisseria

• Bacteria Genus Bacillus

• Bacteria Genus Streptomyces

• Bacteria Genus Holobacterium
• Bacteria Genus Proteus

• Bacteria Genus Enterobacter

• Bacteria Genus Pseudomonas
• Bacteria Genus Klebseilla
4.Students are able to understand and explain character of
bacteria.

Bacteria are single-celled organisms that reproduce in a simple

way, namely by binary fission. Most life freely and contain
genetic information and have biosynthetic and energy
producing systems that are essential for their growth and
reproduction.
