many groups and institutions that are entirely or largely
independent of government and that have primarily
humanitarian or co- operative rather than commercial
objectives”
• In simple words,
*It is a non-profit organisation that operates
independently of any government.
*The purpose is to adress a social or political issue.

*primary purpose is the design and implementation of
development related projects.(centre for Development
and Population Activities)
2) Advocacy NGO’s
*Primary purpose is to defend or promote a specific
cause and who seek to influence the policies and
practices of countries.

NGO’S AND BUSINESS

 NGO Partners are needed to fill in


relationships,knowledge,and resource gaps.
 NGO’s recognise that people they are trying
to serve are also companies’ cutomers and
suppliers or such people live in the
communities where businesses operate.
 They play an important role in developing
society,improving communities,and
promoting citizen participation.
