Trafficking?

practice of illegally transporting people
from one country or area to another,
typically for the purposes of forced
labor or sexual exploitation.

usually occurs near international travel-
hubs with large immigrant populations,
California, Texas, and Georgia.
 Along with human trafficking going on
in the United States, it also happens
world-wide.

Violation of the Principle of Dignity of
the human person

 Multiple human rights violations occur in the trafficking cycle, rights

such as:
 The right to life, liberty, and security
 The right to freedom of movement
 The right to not be subjected to torture and/or cruel, inhumane, and
degrading treatment or punishment
 Human trafficking and associated practices such as slavery, child labor,
and sexual exploitation are all violations of basic human rights and are
prohibited under international human rights law.
Care for Creation

 Care for creation teaches us that we, as humans, have the

responsibility to respect and care for all life because it’s a gift from God.

 This includes caring for the earth, plants, animals, and all human
beings.

 Everything put on the earth was made in the image and likeness of God
and we must care for all his creations.
Solidarity

 Solidarity is an awareness of shared interests, objectives, standards,

and sympathies creating a psychological sense of unity of groups or
classes.

 In the human trafficking cycle, the principle of solidarity is ignored

because the attacker disregards the victim’s unwillingness to cooperate
with their intentions.

 This completely goes against the catholic social teaching of solidarity.

The Vulnerable/Victims

 Principle of option for the poor and vulnerable means that God invites
us to care in a special way for those who need help the most.

 In this case, the vulnerable and victims are the ones being bought and
sold into slavery, forced labor, and sexual exploitation.

 It is our duty to help those who need our assistance to get them into a
better situation.
