1994.”

Philippine National Red Cross
(PNRC) and Philippine Blood
Coordinating Council (PBCC)
and other non government
organizations is mandated to
plan and mandate the NVBS
Program

MISSION
A nationally coordinated and efficient
networking of BSF based voluntary blood
donation that will ensure safe, adequate, timely
and accessible blood supply and the rational use
of blood in the Philippines through advocacy,
professional education and research.

GOALS
■ Development of a fully voluntary blood donation system.
■ Strengthening of a nationality coordinated network of
BSF.
■ Implementation of a quality management system
including Good Manufacturing Practice and Management
Information System to increase efficiency by centralized
testing and processing of bid.
■ Attainment of maximum utilization of blood through
rational use of blood products and component therapy.
■ Development of a sound, viable, sustainable
management and funding for 5 the nationally coordinated
To ensure the safety of blood supply, donors must meet
certain requirements before donating. To be eligible a
blood donor must :

■ Weigh more than 50kg


■ Is in good health
■ Be aged 16-65 years of age
■ Have blood pressure in range 90-160 mmhg
systolic and 60-100 mmHg diastolic
■ Have hemoglobin at least 125 g/L
