PRODUCTION

PROCESS
Production Process

Mechanical or chemical steps used to create an

object, usually repeated to create multiple units
of the same item.
Generally involves the use of raw materials,
machinery and manpower to create a product.
Types of Production Processes

1. MassProduction
- Many identical goods are produced at once,
keeping production costs low.
- Mass production, therefore, relies heavily on
standardization, mechanization, and specialization.
Types of Production Processes

2. Mass Customization
- Goods are produced using mass-production
techniques up to a point, after which the product
or service is custom-tailored to individual
customers by adding special features.
Types of Production Processes

3. Customization
- The firm makes many products one at a time
according to the very specific needs or wants of
individual customers.
Production Schedule

The timetable for the use of resources and

processes required by a business to produce
goods or provide services.
A typical business will modify its production
schedule in response to large customer orders,
to accommodate resource changes, to reduce
costs, and to increase overall production
efficiency.
Areas for Production
1. Scheduling
Procurement (Purchasing)
(When to buy materials/ingredients and for how long)
2. Personnel
(There should be enough workers on hand to finish
projects within the promised time frame but not
enough to bloat your payroll or create inefficiencies by
crowding your work space.)
3. Machinery
(equipment has a limited number of capacity hours
that should be scheduled thoughtfully)
