Neolithic Ceramic

Age
6000-1000 B.C.
By: Brooke Lawrence
Why I chose this age…
• Plain but bold colors (red, gray and black)
• Monochrome (one color- more focus on the details)
• Incisions (subtractive techniques)
• Functional (cooking & storage)
• Everyday use
Examples
“The Light of the Fruits”
“The Light of the Fruits”
• My piece incorporates many of the qualities previously
described of the Neolithic Ceramic age. I wanted to
include the fruits of the Holy Spirit in my piece, so I
thought to write them in Chinese symbols to fit the theme
of the project. I also wanted to include the subtractive
technique on my piece to allow light to shine through with
the candles, so I carved the symbols, along with some
hearts and cross’s out.
Fruits of the Holy Spirit
• In Galatians and Matthew the nine fruits are labeled as
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
