 What is
Multimedia?
 Multimedia
Means that computer information can be
represented through audio, video,
animation in addition to traditional media
(i.e., text, graphics/drawings, images).

Multimedia is the field concerned with the
computer controlled integration of text,
graphics, drawings, still and moving images
(Video), animation, audio, and any other media
where every type of information can be
represented, stored, transmitted and
processed digitally.

 The Basic Elements of Multimedia
• Text : characters that are used to create words,
sentences, and paragraphs.
• Graphics : A digital representation of non-text
information, such as a drawing, chart, or photograph.
• Animation: is a modern technology, which helps in
creating, developing, sequencing, and displaying a set of
images (technically known as ‘frames’). Animation gives
visual effects or motion very similar to that of a video file

• Video : Photographic images (known as frames)
that are played back at speeds of 15 to 30
frames a second and provide the appearance of
full motion.
• Audio: Music, speech, or any other sound.
 Two types of Multimedia
1. Linear: Is a multimedia type wherein the flow of the
contents is predetermined by the creator. The
progression of multimedia is a straight forward
similar to a video clip.
2. Non-linear: content offers user interactivity to
control progress as used with a computer game or
used in self-paced computer based training.
 Usage of Multimedia
Multimedia finds its application in various
areas including, but not limited to:
1. Advisement
2. Education
3. Entertainment
4. Science and technology
5. Residential services
 What is a video editor?
The video editor's responsibilities involve decisions about the
selection and combining of shots into sequences, and the
addition of accompanying sound effects and music to
ultimately create a finished movie, television program,
commercial, promo, or Documentary.

Editors are used to structure and present all video information
including films and television shows, video
advertisements(Promo), Video Funny and Documentary.
