• Bordered by: Montana on the north and Utah
and Colorado on the south. On the east, by
South Dakota and Nebraska. On the west by
Idaho and Utah
• Land Area: 97,105 square miles
• Highest Point: Is Gannett Peak, in the Wind
River Range, at 13,804 feet above sea level.
• Lowest Point: is the Belle Fourche River at
3,099 feet above sea level
The name Wyoming

• Depending on who you talk with, the word “Wyoming” in Delaware Indian
language means either "large plains" or “mountains and valleys alternating;” in
Munsee language "at the big river flat;” or in Algonquin “a large prairie place.”
The weather

• Is semiarid, because of its topographical diversity, it is also varied.


Precipitation varies from as little as five inches to as much as 45 inches a
year, some in the form of rain and some in snow. Has a relatively cool
climate. Above the 6,000 foot level the temperature rarely exceeds 100 F.
Away from the mountains, low July temperatures range from 50 to 60 F.

• There are large cattle ranches, its residents are strong and independent
people to live off the land. This is a place that concerns everyone, but

and its mountaineering activity

It is located in northeast of Wyoming

was an American sportscaster, well known as

• Nellie Tayloe Ross


It was an American policy, the 14th governor
of Wyoming in the period 1925-1927, and
director of the United States Mint from 1933
to 1953. She was the first woman to be
elected governor of a state of the United

•William Cody (Buffalo Bill)


In 1895 worked in Wyoming, founded the city
of Cody. He built a hotel in the center of the
city called Irma.
He founded two other hotels, called Wapiti
Inn and Pahaska Tepee, on the road that led
to the east entrance to Yellowstone National
Park, and also built the family ranch on the
south arm of the Shoshone River.
