SEATING ARRANGEMENT
The process of placing a group of people or
objects as per a fixed manner
• Sub-Types:
– Linear Arrangement
– Circular Arrangement
– Square / Rectangular Arrangement
Linear Arrangement
Arranging objects in a row or two parallel rows
facing each other assuming the importance of their
relative position in terms of order or direction
• In a row:
– Left Directions if people are facing north Right
– Right Directions if people are facing south Left
• Two Parallel Rows
– Right Middle Left
– Left Middle Right

• In a row, P is sitting:
– 2nd to the left of Q P _ _ Q or P _ Q
– 2 Places to the left of Q P _ _ Q or P _ Q
– Left of Q _____Q
– Immediately to the left of Q _Q

• Example:
Eight members P,Q,R,S,T,V,H and L are sitting in two
rows with equal members facing each other. Each
member in a row is sitting exactly opposite a member
in the other row.
P sits in the row facing North, to the immediate right of
H, who is exactly opposite of R. L is to the right of R
and S is exactly opposite of T, who is the immediate
right of P. V does not sit at any of the ends of any row.
