S1- Tens and Ones
LEARNING OBJECTIVE
 To enable the students to
represent 0-100 things as
groups of tens and ones, and
as a number.
Tens and Ones
*1s have only one digit number and 10s
have only 2 digit numbers. The digit on the
right side is called ones and the digit on the
left side is called tens.
Eg: 25- The digit on the right side is 5 and is
called ones(5 ones), the digit on the left side
is 2 and is called tens (2 tens)
*Examples:
10+2=12, 1 ten and 2 ones make 12
10+3=13, 1 ten and 3 ones make 13
10+4 =14, 1 ten and 4 ones make 14
10+ 5=15, 1 ten and 5 ones make15
*Now let’s learn in another way:
Number 35- It has 3 tens and 5 ones
Number 50- It has 5 tens and 0 ones
Number 87- It has 8 tens and 7 ones
*Some facts about 1s and 10s.
• The smallest one digit number is 1.
• The biggest one digit number is 9.
• The smallest two digit number is 10.
• The biggest two digit number is 99.
