SERVANT LEADERSHIP

BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE OF LEADERSHIP

Leaders are not appointed. People become leaders when they earn
and get the following.
Trust. Here is how we earn get trust:
Leaders are not appointed. People become leaders
when they earn and get the following.
Respect. Here is how we earn respect
Leaders are not appointed. People become
leaders when they earn and get the following.

 Initiative: Do
not wait for a perfect moment.
Take the moment and make it perfect.
 Sharing: share information, knowledge, credit
 Influence and Inspiration: Influence people to do
the right things, inspire them to do their best.
 Empowerment: empowering others and stepping
back. An employee is a rocket, a leader is a
rocket booster.
Leaders do not act from a
position of authority or a title,
they lead by influence,
inspiration and a personal
example.
WHAT IS SERVANT LEADERSHIP THEORY?
By Robert Greenleaf

Servant Leadership is a recent theory

of leadership that argues that the
most effective leaders are servants of
their people and get results through
whole-hearted attention to their
followers and followers’ needs.
WHAT IS SERVANT LEADERSHIP THEORY?

The leader should be a servant first,

leading from a desire to better serve
others and not to attain more power
 The assumption is that if leaders focus on
the needs and desires of followers,
followers will reciprocate through
increased teamwork, deeper engagement,
and better performance.
WHAT IS SERVANT LEADERSHIP THEORY?

Servant leadership is one of the

more popular theories of
leadership, especially among
Christian leaders who vigorously
cite JESUS as the penultimate
example of servant leadership.
WHAT IS SERVANT LEADERSHIP THEORY?

 Matthew 20:26-28
 But among you it will be different. Whoever
wants to be a leader among you must be you
r servant, and whoever wants to be first amo
ng you must become your slave. For even th
e Son of Man came not to be served but to se
rve others and to give his life as a ransom fo
r many.”

The best test is:

become healthier, wiser, freer,
more autonomous, more likely
themselves to become servants?

conceptual thinking.

decision for the future. It is also deeply
rooted within the intuitive mind.

lost in recent human history as a result of the
shift from local communities to large institutions
as the primary shaper of human lives. This
awareness causes the servant leader to seek to
identify some means for building community
among those who work within a given institution.
